STEVEN H. ALLEN, LEED AP, is Vice-Chair of the Green Mechanical Council and Director of the Sustainable Technologies Department of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada (UA). Mr. Allen has over 40 years experience as an HVACR Service Technician and HVACR educator. He works with HVACR Manufacturers, Contractors Associations, and Career Technical Schools to develop classroom and web-based HVACR certificate and degree programs that lead to employment. He is the developer of the UA STAR Testing and Certification program, and was the Refrigeration Expert and Competitor Judge representing the United States at the 2007 World Skills Competition in Shizuoka, Japan. Mr. Allen has a Masters Degree in Education with a Certification in Instructional Technology.

Ron Rice - started off as an apprentice pipefitter over 30 years ago and is now the immediate Past President of IAPMO. Over these years, he has developed an experienced understanding of the "hands on" aspects and keen strategic eye for the plumbing and mechanical industries. As a membership-based association, IAPMO is proud to utilize an open consensus process in the development of its flagship Uniform Plumbing Code and Uniform Mechanical Code. These codes are established through scientific research, debate, and analysis, strengthening its position at the forefront of the plumbing and mechanical industries.
